My interest in films began at an early age: I'd make short action films and stop motions with my older brother in the garden, using an old bright red point and shoot!
This then grew into producing short travel films of family trips, and then eventually into my first promotional video for my local village shop - sparking an interest in supporting great causes that I hold to this day.
Since then, I've had the opportunity to work on a huge range of projects, from promtional content and campaign videos, to live music sessions and mini documentaries.
"It's crazy to think now that we were so close to not booking a videographer for our wedding. This incredible video Ethan produced for us is such a true representation of just how much we loved our day and now something we can savour and enjoy months and years down the line. Ethan was totally class. Right from the start to the end of the process we knew we were being looked after so well. On the day itself we were so impressed with his professionalism and how he put us at total ease, often being unaware he was filming! We keep recommending him to anyone we know getting married; definitely the best wedding planning decision we made!"
-Amy and Ethan
"While working with Ethan it was clear from the beginning that he is passionate about his work. His enthusiasm and knowledge in filmmaking clearly comes across in all his films. We at the Animal Art Fair are very happy with the result, he captured the energy of our gallery opening in what was a very impressive, professional film. We would encourage that for anyone who is looking for someone to capture their event, Ethan is the man for the job"
-Monty Thompson, Marketing Representative - Animal Art Fair
"We were incredibly happy with Ethan’s work. He was sensitive to our needs, offered some excellent ideas and original insights, and had a clear vision of what we could accomplish together. The end-product was of high quality and achieved everything we originally hope for. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ethan to you!"
-Rev. Duncan Clark, Senior Minister, Coventry Elim Church
"Ethan created an outstanding highlights video of the Music in the Park festival in Thame. He was diligent and thoroughly professional in his approach, and worked independently and unobtrusively to capture some magic moments of the performers and public having a great time."
-Steve Gunn, Music in the Park, Thame
"Ethan approaches every project with great energy, enthusiasm and creativity. He is quick to understand our requirements, brings lots of good ideas and responds well to feedback – all of this leads to an end product of excellent quality."
-John Harbour, Elder-Kings Church High Wycombe
"We were completely stunned when we first watched our highlights video after Ethan sent it to us. We were so struck by the way he had captured so much of us, our heart for the wedding day, and those closest to us, despite only just getting to know us.
He was warm, friendly, barely noticeable during the day and utterly brilliant! We honestly could not recommend him highly enough!"
-Becky and Nick
"We initially decided to get a video on the basis that it would be a really nice added extra to remember our day, and we knew how talented Ethan was - but he completely surpassed our expectations.
We completely love our wedding photos, but it's the video that captured our day so perfectly and brings back all the fun and emotion of what was the best/craziest day of our lives!
Almost a year on our guests, friends, family (and random people from social media..) still rave to us about how beautiful our video is, and what an incredible job Ethan did, and we couldn't agree more. He was without a doubt the best investment of the day!"
-Poppy and Paul
"We're beyond thrilled with Ethan's professionalism and creativity. He went above and beyond in every sense of the word, and I could happily focus on my event knowing that I'd left the important task of filming in some very capable hands. Highly recommend!"
-Ryan Carter, RyCa Refresh
WHAT SORT OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
It totally depends on the project. The gear I use varies from smaller mirrorless camera's (namely the GH5S) which I own for myself, up to larger cinema cameras such as the canon C series.
In terms of lenses I shoot the majority of my content on the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8, along with a few tasty vintage lenses but I love being able to rent and experiment with other lenses and focal lengths.
Depending on the film, I also own a DJI Ronin S gimbal, which allows me to get smooth, gliding shots, however for a lot of my projects, I find the handheld look provides an energy that I personally love!
For audio, I have a combination of industry standard mics to capture the cleanest sound possible. I run a Sennheiser MKH-416 as a boom, and a pair of Lectrosonics SMDB-EO1 wireless mics as lavs.
DO YOU OFFER PHOTOGRAPHY AS WELL AS VIDEO?
I currently specialise completely in video, and not in photography, but I do know a few photographers that I would whole-heartedly reccomend:
They are a husband and wife duo who know how to take incredible pictures. If you're looking for photos that tell a story and evoke emotions, alongside working with two of the nicest people you'll ever meet, The Chamberlins are for you!
Secondly, for portraits/events, Serena Parkin is a fantastic photographer based in Brighton/Surrey. As you'll see in her portfolio, she's great at putting a subject at ease and takes incredibly natural, relaxed stills.
